Swab Team Feels Pinch of Budget

Special to the Times

Five members of the twelve member Los Angelus Hazardous Materials Department were indicted Tuesday on waste charges. The District Attorney's office confirmed the five squandered 47 boxes of Quetips on side jobs and for personal use. Sources close to the investigation do not believe the five actually found the boxes "down by the LA aqueduct," as earlier reported. "There was ear wax and effluent debris on the majority of the swabs collected Sunday," officer Joe Petty said. "I think we know which direction we're going with this case. Straight down the drain." Richard Coax, a lawyer for the five, disagrees. "That much wax on that many swabs could not have possibly come from five people. They had to be working in an official capacity."

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: corruption; earwax
We were all wondering where the mysterious popping sound was coming from. I think we have found our culprits.

There is yet no word on where or how these toxic materials are going to be disposed of. This Quetip scandal has created a problem that HAZMAT has never had to confront before. There are great environmental concerns which should be considered.

Even more disturbing is that these Quetip bandits were doing official HAZMAT work. The only evidence available are the 47,000 soiled Quetips.
