That's very true, especially if she was kidnapped by someone other than the man she eventually ended up with (i.e., knowing that some horrible man was still somewhere out there, a guy who had previously entered her home with a gun and could presumably do so again if provoked, would i think be a powerful deterrent toward attempting an escape).
