Just writing as Rush was talking, lets get on with it. He mentioned the fact that the VP was on his show last fall and he said then it was a matter of weeks not months.
Lets get on with it. Sounds good to me.......

It was interesting when Rush brought up that Cheney had been on his show in September and said there would be action within weeks, not months in Iraq. That echoed what Bush said in his press conference on September 12, 2002. I wonder how Powell convinced Bush to change his mind.

I wonder how Powell convinced Bush to change his mind. As a 'pubby, Bush can decide to do nothing after all, all on his own.

I'll tell you one thing. Whether it's Canada's plan, or UK's diplomatic plan, or whatever.
Regarding further DELAYS, hoping Iraq will comply, it is ludicrous. It is based on the faulty premise steeped in wishful and theoretical diplomacy--not reality-- that the outside world think IRAQ INTENDS NOW SUDDENLY TO COMPLY.
Iraq's intention to comply possibility: 0%
Iraq's intention to dig in and create more USA casulties using the extra time alloted by diplomatic delays: 100%
Mr. Bush has to realize our young troops over there are counting on him. That with each day's delay, Blair and his own international and domestic political position decay. Issue the UNMOVIC Iraq and foreign diplomat evac order, and begin the attack by the weekend.

Dear Mr. President:Please, please go along with more calls for delays in the international community and more diplomatic hopscotch. It give us increasing days to swarm to Baghdad from around the Middle East, take up positions, dig in, distribute the WMD, fortify against the Yankee infidel dogs and extact more of a terrible price when he comes." -- Assorted Jihadi Arab Terrorists From All Over The Place

Tony Blair and Jacques Chirac were the real reasons for going the UN route. We got Chirac on board 1441 with a variety of concessions in return for his promise of support if 1441 didn't work and we needed to go to war. Chirac betrayed us. To give Blair his due, he seems to have done everything possible to try to make the diplomatic route work although I'm still unconvinced he hasn't been playing a bait-and-switch game all along. In any case, the UN route might have succeeded were it not for Chirac's treachery. Powell is guilty of naivety and a desire to avoid war if possible. But Powell has never waivered in his support for the President or war as a last resort. So let's place the blame squarely where it belongs: on Chirac.
