[history]
I've had a chance over the last couple of days to talk to some foreign investors and let me tell you something: They're not big fans of ours, or me, for that matter.
Perhaps it was that wine that I ordered with the twist-off cap. I don't know. But this much I do know: These guys over there don't think much of us guys over here.

One can take or leave Objectivism, but one has to admire Rand's ability to depict socialists as they are and lay bare their motives for all to see.

Neal's got much bigger b*lls than O'Reilly.

You have to be pretty dedicated to read Ayn Rand. She can make a one-minute argument in to an hour-long sermon.
Not necessarily. 'Anthem' is a short read with a powerful message.

And I say ... to hell with the French, German, South Koreans and anyone else who doesn't like us. Yes folks, its time to stop paying all these turds who throw vile epithets at us and are too afraid to stand up to terrorists. I completely agree with Neil and could care less about those countries.
I mean, figure out the irony of the Germans trying to lecture us on humanity .... they who brought us World War 1 and World War 2. The French who cried on our shoulders to save their asses in 1918 and during WW2. South Korea ... my, my how soon they forget. They can all shove it, and I hope that America wakes up soon and tells them to do it.

Where is the flaw in this? Er, because it's based on a physical model that's been known to be invalid for a century?
And I don't see how quantum physics and the randomness therein invalidate it
Your inability to understand the facts does not invalidate them.
because quantum physics has no application beyond the sub-atomic level
Nonsense. For example, there are a number of electronic devices (some of them big enough to see with the unaided eye, and everything) that simply would not work if quantum physics did not have an effect at the macroscopic scale.

You know, Russell Kirk said there can be no peace between the conservatives and the libertarians. Well, then, Russell Kirk should have honestly declared himself to be in favor of the victory of leftism.

Mr. Jeeves, no truer words were spoken. Congratulations!

What would happen if Atlas (who supports the entire globe on his shoulders with his might) refused to be a sucker any longer, and simply shrugged?
The world of Frenchlings, Radical Muslims and Leftists would remain.
Presaged a half-century ago, more shocking than 1984, Rand's brilliant epic is the story of heroic American entrepreneurs versus the Socialist state.
You will never watch the news or read the paper the same way ever again.
World events will unfold before your eyes as a parody of itself. You will predict with cruise missile accuracy the actions of the enemies and parasites of freedom, liberty and justice.
Note to All Freepers: Read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It will blow your mind.
To: Enduring Freedom
I read it, over 40 years ago.
I was not impressed, either with her ideas, or her writing style, or with her (lack of) understanding of human nature. Moreover, as an engineering student (as I was then) I was appalled at her ignorance of engineering (a new development in construction materials plays an important part in one of the main sub-plots).
Overall, she reminded me of another writer who formed a cult around himself, L. Ron Hubband.
Nor, may I say, am I particularly impressed with your debating skills. Saracasm and name calling are not arguments for your point of view.

Because you do not see the forest for the trees, it would not surprise me in the least that you cannot understand how the portrayal of Socialists and parasites in Ayn Rand's monumental epic "Atlas Shrugged" has forever changed the world.
Back to the weekly comics, or CNN, for you.
To: Enduring Freedom
If only Mein Kampf were written in an Irish lilt, with subplots of love and mystery, it would have been an even bigger seller!
Content is everything in the world of conservative thought, and B.S. baffles no one on this board.
You have entered the world of Freepers.
To: Enduring Freedom
Your juvenile and non-resposive reply to my post proves my point.

Atlas Shrugged is about free men vs. the oppressive State who means to enslave them.
That is, it is about the class warfare presently occurring throughout the world.
And it is not about engineering. But you know that already.
It IS a story that skewers the Left-Wing, the Socialists, the Communists, and everything else you stand for, apparently.
Me think that thou protests too much!
Bring it on, VV!
To: Enduring Freedom
I don't have to "bring it on", kid, when you keep making my point for me.

Debate engineering at D.U., Leftie.
Dissing Socialists is what we do here, and no one does it better than Ayn Rand.
Chew on it.
To: Enduring Freedom
Wrong on 2 out of three, and partially wrong on "dissing socialists." If that is all you see happening on Free Republic, then your social perceptions are as poor as your literary tastes.
