This is simply disgusting. It's bad enough that these vermin desecrate a memorial to the victims of 9-11. No, even the people who are sworn to uphold the laws, blatently IGNORE the fact that this memorial was on Private Property. They witnessed a crime in progress and did nothing. Captain (see no evil) Reese needs to be fired immediately for dereliction of duty, the officer's suspended (without pay) pending a review (assuming they were told to do nothing!).

It seems as though police departments across the nation allow rioting mobs an alotted amount of time to destroy property before they move in to stop it.

Thank you by the way for posting this; I've forwarded this to Glenn Beck so he can rant on it. This is an absurdity and really pisses me off.

Judging from the statement of the police officer, it would seem he just stood back and cheered them on.
What a despicable human being.

It's just beginning and it will get much worse.

This shows quite clearly what the anti-war protestors stand for.
To: OXENinFLA
"ill-will intent"? Excuse me, but those protesters willingly destroyed someone else's property. I believe that would be vandalism in any state in the Union - even liberal California.
To: OXENinFLA
police did not arrest three people seen damaging the display because they were "exercising the same freedom of speech that the people who put up the flags were," La Habra Police Capt. John Rees said Monday. WTF?? Where did this idiot learn to be a cop -- at the police academy depicted in the movie of that name???

Les Howard, a sociology professor at Whittier College, said the incident might be an indication of some confusion among people trying to stop a possible war against Iraq but uncertain how to express their sentiments. However, he said he does not condone the destruction of symbols important to those who erect them. They asked a sociology professor to explain this???

I didn't realize that defacing property that doesn't belong to you was 'free speech'. And destruction of said property IS ill intent!

Here's MY version of free speech.
Hope this cop understands that when I'm persuading these antiwar protesters to support the troops, I'm just exercising my First Amendment rights.
