Peace is patriotic

In your Feb. 27 article about peace activists preparing to mobilize if war should start, pro-war activist Susan Eaton of Raleigh was quoted as saying that "her people" would not turn out in support of the war "because most of the people in our group have jobs." To me, this is smearing and marginalizing those who disagree with you. Despite what the pro-war crowd would have you believe, I am employed, a business owner, clear-thinking, patriotic, Christian and totally against this war. I do support our troops -- by wanting them back home with their families, alive. I do think Saddam Hussein should be removed from power, but I know the United States is clever, resourceful and powerful enough to make this happen without a horrific war. I believe (along with our own CIA) that there is no immediate threat, and that "fools rush in."

When 3,000 innocent Americans were killed by those who opposed our government, we rightly called it murder by terrorists. Now we propose to invade a country that has not attacked us and has no real means to do so, and in the process kill tens of thousands of their innocent citizens. If, as we say, our problem is not with the Iraqi people but with Saddam, why must we kill them, and become terrorists ourselves?

Fan mail, huh? LOL!

Sounds like you really struck a nerve there... methinks he doth protest too much. :)
Further, his moral relativism - comparing the US to terrorists - sickens me.

The statement that 'fools rush in' is quite misinformed.
I don't know many reasonable people that would characterize 12 years and nearly 20 UN resolutions as a "rush".

"Susan Eaton of Raleigh was quoted as saying that "her people" would not turn out in support of the war . . ."

OK, so this was paraphrased, but the terminolgy that we "support war" makes my blood boil. That's the way the peaceniks and media want to define us. We support FREEDOM, damn it. Anyone interviewed by the media on Saturday should make sure to make this point. No one is "for war," for the sake of war itself. We are FOR THE PRESIDENT AND HIS EFFORTS TO PREVENT TERRORISM AND FREE THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ.

Also, heard you on the radio today. You were great. Can't wait to meet you guys.
