This man served this country. The WHOLE country, not just a certain state. Of course, 'we' could always ask him if he was merely fighting/serving the United STATE of Florida.
The good people of Florida are well able to decide this sort of local issue themselves without Ohioans chiming in, telling them how they should conduct their own affairs.
