Why the name calling?

Where in my posts did I say we should not "liberate" Iraq?

My question is why do we want to "liberate" Iraq? Especially, why now and why should we risk American lives to do it? To defeat tyranny makes no sense, given all the dictators around the world that we don't care about.

If it is for oil, so be it. Let's hope we don't end up with another Shah of Iran.

The worst thing we ever did in the middle east was engineer the downfall of the Shah of Iran!

Have you read the article today re: Al-Q's training tape and slaughtering of the school children in America? I'll ping you, if not.

And do NOT insult me or anyone on this forum by saying that's Al-Q and you're talking about Iraq. I'm not in the mood.

It is important to get rid of Saddam, his regime and his chemical and biological and (in progress) nuclear weapons NOW because...

-He supplies materials and training to Al Quaeda and other terrorists (see "Salman Pak");
-He has attacked the United States and its interests on numerous occasions (see "Laurie Mylroie");
-He is months away from a long-desired success in creating nuclear weapons (see "International Atomic Energy Agency").

It would be disingenuous to say that this whole conflict has nothing to do with oil. The whole region is crucial to the continued operation of civilization as we know it by reason of its oil, which is PURCHASED by the US and other nations. It is our heat, our light, our mode of transportation and communication. (Come on, you know this.)

If we wait any longer, he will succeed in getting a nuke. Then it will be harder and bloodier to go after him. And go after him we must.

As Churchill said, "Either fight now when the winning is easy and assured, or fight later when it is desperate... or fight when there is no winning at all, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

We're going in. That's all. We're not going to kick the can down that road. If you don't understand, go ahead out on the street with the others who wish America to die. I'll see you out there -- on the other side!

To fishing guy, What was wrong with the Shah of Iran??? He liberated the country and was on the right track, but was hijacked by the bad-bad muslims who took the country back to the 1400's. Most of the people in Iran loved the Shah, and hated the clerics and still do, they are waiting for Independence, as are the Iraqies. When Mr. Bush is finished, you will see Iraqies jumping in the streets loving their new found freedom. Why do you condone stoping that?
