Really? Toss a few dollars over the fence. It would eliminate the opposition protestors and you'd own the street.

Most of the time people can go in and out of Lafayette Park with no problem. The barricade fences are brought out for large demonstrations or special events or even special guests visiting the White House.
There are black post-like barriers spaced around the park that have links into which chains can fit to cordon off specific sections or the whole park. The are reinforced so that vehicles can't knock them over and drive through to get close to the White House.
