Very nicely done! I think you have hit the secret nail on the head.

But, never underestimate the corrupt power of the Liberal Media. Reporters may report honestly from The Front, but the propaganda outlets are controlled by the owners and editors - most of whom have a dog in this fight, aka the Democrat Party which has de facto allied itself with Saddam and the European appeasers and solidly against this Administration (which, after all, is "illegitimate" and "reckless").

Remember, if it's not reported into America's living rooms or only done so sporadically, it's not "news" and will have marginal lasting impact. Remember, we are dealing with a widespread populace which happily elects huge numbers of otherwise unemployable Democrat hacks and who vote for them despite all the evidence of who these scoundrels really are.

Sure. We here at FR will be aware of what is happening. But Joe SixPack won't get many of the gory details and those will quickly be breathlessly obscured by other, "more important" stories. The Gate Keepers of the News will assure they are. Their future depends on it.

The battle for freedom will extend far beyond the borders of Iraq!

Very well done, John, what a great piece of writing and reasoning. Regarding the press embedded into the combat units, I've a strong sense that sleeping, eating, dodging, and living with the grunts will cause a sort of fondness for the troops and what they face and find. That is what was the general outcome of the WW II press coverage where correspondents went into battle with the troops.

To the niggling sand flea (habaes corpussel) doubting the danger from Iraq: Salman Pak terrorist hijacker training, bio-chem training of al Qaeda in Afghanistan by Iraqi special op instructors, R. Yousef circa 1993, Uday Hussein and Osama's oldest son. I'm not gonna dig these out for you because you're too lazy to read, but suffice it to say, when the shooting settles down, the truth of Iraq and al Qaeda connections and cooperation over the past nearly twelve years will finish being revealed for fools like you to swallow with a smile. ... But I doubt we'll ever hear from the likes of you at that juncture, only the backpeddling, perfidious democrats and cheese eating surrender monkey French will have the unmitigated idiocy to try and deny it all.

Great column. One thing you might wish to consider is the fate of Saddam after the war. Of course, should he be killed all is moot. However, suppose he's captured. What would be his fate? International criminal court or tribunal? You know, of course, the liberals around the world will want his fate to be settled in the ICC but I fear our turning him over would set a terrible precedent.

So Hiram Johnson's warning about the consequences of war will be exactly wrong this time.
Were he around today, Hiram Johnson would be the media's favorite squeeze. Johnson was as self-righteous and pompous as your favorite present day leftist hypocrite (you choose). I loathe the bastard.

The quotation is ironic, for Johnson was whining about Woodrow Wilson: He and his machine withheld California from Charles Evan Hughes in 1916, handing the Presidency to Wilson.

The fastest, simplest solution is usually the best one, in dealing with the likes of Saddam Hussein. There are tens of thousands of Iraqis who have a blood lust for Saddam and his equally psychotic sons. It strikes me that the best option is to find some way that such Iraqis get their hands on Saddam, and let nature take its course.

The fate of Saddam should be to be shot with that stupid rifle he likes to carry, and then be hung upside down from a lamppost in Baghdad, like Mussolini was in Milan in 1945. Also, before he's strung up by his ankles, that stupid porkpie hat that he wears should be nailed to his head so it won't fall off.

Saddam's sons should suffer the worst fate that their worst enemies can possibly imagine. I'm not sure I want to read an accurate account of what happens to them.

Here's the explanation the US Military can offer afterwards about how the Iraqis got their hands on Saddam, etc. "Things were just so chaotic." "Opps." Or, "Ex-CUSE me." Any of those should be satisfactory to the American public.

Latest column, now up on UPI, and FR, "Truth, the First Casualty?"

Latest book(let), "to Restore Trust in America."

All very good, but things could go "wrong". Suppose the "embedded" press is present? Wouldn't look good having the press film US troops handing Saddam over to a mob. Or suppose an over-eager Lt., full of the latest teachings on the proper way to handle prisoners catches Saddam? Bottom line, hypothetically would you support turning him over to the ICC or to a tribunal?

If we wind up with a live Saddam Hussein on our hands, we do not want a Milosevic-type circus. One possibility would be to try him for war crimes against citizens and soldiers of the United States, but NOT by any kind of international tribunal.

Instead, try him before a military tribunal as already provided for in an Executive Order by President Bush. As John Wayne once said in a movie, "Give him a fair trial, and a proper hanging."

We are already over extended and do not need 300,000 troops in the Middle East to take care of Saddam.

Sure that that's why they are there, are you?

If we find a live Saddam, we should give him a blindfold, a cigarette, a couple of minutes to compose himself, and a firing squad. Then nail that awful hat on his head!

"Sure that that's why they are there, are you?"

I did my time in another war and why aren't you there?

The "Drive-by Education" on constitutional law is now over. Next, we go into a new subject, and I believe it will be basic economics. Glad you enjoy the show. PLEASE call in and identify yourself.
