Questions That Didn't Get Asked Tonight
Posted on 03/06/2003 7:16:42 PM PST by Mean Daddy
One question I thought should have been asked to the President, but didn't was, "if the United States goes into Iraq without the United Nations, will the U.N. be part of the post-Iraq strategy?"

Also, did anyone else notice that Helen Cowmas didn't get a question in.

A good question that would have been dodged. The President is trying a "tough love" approach with the UN because he knows we need international support to rid the world of islamist terrorism. After we humiliate the UN by showing the extent of the Iraqi WMD development and human rights abuses, the President hopes the UN sees the error of their way.
As for Helen, she was sitting in the back near the bathroom in case her Depends didn't hold out.

I thought the same thing earlier today while reading some sort of drivel from the UN and post-Hussein Iraq.
In the past the UN has seen to it that Socialist/Communist regimes are put in place once they get rid of a Socialist/Communist regime.

She was there, I saw her after the President left. It used to be that she always got to ask the first question. Not sure if she didn't because:
a)She's a bitch
b)She's with a new news organization
c)She's a bitch
d)She p*ssed off the POTUS

Like 'Old Europe'....irrelevant.

The President had a scripted order of reporters to ask questions...no coincidence the ugly troll didn't get a question.

Helen's name wasn't on the prepared list of reporters who could ask questions.
Notice Dubya referred to his notes before saying a reporter's name. Don't know why they did this but would like to know.

It was clearly deliberate on President Bush's part and one of the best things he has done. No connection to her having recently denounced him as the worst president in history, of course.
It was a Homeric moment, like Odysseus' put-down of Thersites in Book 2 of the Iliad. Helen Thomas is our Thersites, and resembles him both in looks and in abusiveness.

I like to think that the answer to that would have been "Not only NO! but HELL NO! The post-Saddam Strategy Club consists only of nations whose men and women fought to achieve it."

Was she there? I was TV deprived and had to listen to the President via a radio. I assumed when she didn't ask a question, that she wasn't present.
