North Korea's Missles
Vanity | 3/6/2003 | strugg1e

Suppose North Korea fired a nuclear missle at Tokyo, and a battleship with a EMP cruise missle or the likes fired it at the incoming missle. What would happen? I don't mean to go tin hat on you guys, however, if this occured what do you think would occur? Could America destroy the missle? America has an amazing arsenal of secret weapons, and it seems ridiculus (sp) to imagine an Aurora to fly from Area 51 to kill a missle with an EMP in 8 minutes, but what could America do? Strategists, fire away.

Not much since the liberals in America have delayed the development of a missile defense system. They can't stand the idea of America not being threatened by their buddies in Third World socialist dictatorships.

Electro Magnetic Pulse will only fry the electronics in the thing. Depends on how hardened the E-package is. ICBMs are designed to be delivered while potentially other nukes are going off (delivering their own EMP events) so are hardened against that (internal faraday cage). If these were built the same way (Soviet designs) then the rockets are still firing, it's going to come down somewhere and detonate.

I respectfully disagree. Liberals would have many ideas to dealing with this situation.

Until a space-based system is perfected using concentrated and locking lasers, only hit-to-kill technology is likely to bring the missile down (as opposed to the Patriot approach used in Gulf War I). This technology is improving, but still a couple of generations away from complete reliability. In any event, current H2K methods might knock the missile down, but the warhead could detonate either at the point of impact or at the drop altitude.

Considering we the American tax-payers paid for N. Korean nukes, I suggest that we demand President Bush go and re-possess them.

Since Bill Clinton is now joining CBS assign him the job of reporter imbedded with the military.
