LONDON (Reuters) - British troops based in the Gulf had been told to prepare for an invasion of Iraq on March 17, the Daily Express has reported.
The newspaper, quoting unnamed Westminster sources, said British officers based in Kuwait had been told to expect an invasion on that date, preceded by a massive "short and sharp" air blitz on Iraq from March 13.
A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman said she had no comment on the story.
The U.S. and Britain have committed more than 300,000 troops to the Gulf region along with dozens of warships and more than 500 attack aircraft for a possible war against Iraq.

I was in a bar saturday, and some snot nose kid told me his brother was intel & had told him the war was starting the 17th
I told him if his brother was intel he would know better than to tell anyone & asked his name rank & unit, the kid called me a bunch of four letter words & left the bar
makes you wonder

expect an invasion on that date, preceded by a massive "short and sharp" air blitz on Iraq from March 13.At least this rag has made the mental leap seperating the air war, which has been going on for months and has been increasing on an exponential basis for the last ten days, from the actual attack.

I agree. The disinfo is flying hot and heavy. Saddam is demented, but he's not stupid. He knows it's any day now. This won't fool him, but it might fool the press.

It's going to be on March 12th at 0032 Baghdad Universal Time. (Waxing moon with unexpected eclipse, Aquarius in Euphrates). The first wave will be destroyer-launched B-47s from Lakes Titicaca, Erie, and Veronica. I'd say more, only "loose lips" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is incorrect. March 17th is the St. Patty's day bash at the Al Rashid.

All the Irish members of our army will be upset at not being able to drink - I predict we will win the war by 7 PM local time, with massive amounts of Guinness & Black Bush to be consumed shortly thereafter, the consumption of which will cause all the civilian populace of Iraq to convert to Catholisism
