"Hey Blam! How'd you survive the Season? Fine, I hope. Had a splendid day yesterday, even if cloudy and a little damp ... the sun finally broke through at full brilliance for a few minutes as I was taking a shot of the folks pouring out of Mass at noon. Something appropriate about that ... =)"

Doing fine, fine, thanks. I'm not very religious and haven't been to Mardi Gras since I lived in New Orleans in the early 60's, just off St Charles Street, it was.

What I'd like to hear...
Bush: "The invasion is complete, the infrastructure is under our control, and this regime will no longer be an instrument of evil troubling the world... and now that we're done with France..."

I was being a bit facetious, I really think a couple of days to take the outlying areas (oilfields, no-fly-zones, etc,) 3-4 more days to surround Baghdad, and then it could take a few more weeks to process all the surrendering hordes.

They are less powerful, we are much more powerful than Gulf War 1.

But, there are many wildcards, I believe Bush has planned for most likely scenarios.

"I was in first grade during Gulf War 1.....could you elaborate on how Stormin' Norman has changed?"

A raging bull, kicking butt and taking names, big time.

I am so SICK of those anti-war protestors who are bashing our President and literally our devoted troops overseas! How do all those wonderful military families feel when they hear and see this all over the damn t.v.??

I went to church tonight for my ashes and just prayed for world peace, also our wonderful troops and for our President who carries the weight of a nation on his shoulders!

God bless America!

Ugh...if all this is true, you have to hate the telegraphing of the punch. Some day this is going to get us in world of hurt.

Could it be that he requested time for next week, when in fact the liberation will start Sunday - 48 hours after Hansjob Blix gives its report on Friday. You know if the war started, and it was announced that Bush was giving a speech to the American people, ALL the networks would carry it.

"My fellow Americans, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ....therefore moments ago I issued the order to open up a Texas size can of Whoop Ass, the liberation of Iraq has begun. Tomorrow we will add the 51st star to the flag representing New Texas. Good night.

"That would be nice, but my jaw will be to the floor for a week if it takes less than at least a day to do the job. Even that would surprise me; I am thinking about a month."

Nah. I'll give the fighting 96 hours max.

"My Fellow Americans, as most of you have already heard by now, the French, German, and Russian governments are opposing our efforts to obtain a second -- actually eighteenth -- resolution from the United Nations Security Council supporting our efforts to disarm Saddam Hussein of his weapons of mass destruction. Make no mistake about it: Saddam MUST be disarmed, he has NOT disarmed, the Security Council has already gone on record as authorizing the serious consequence of forcibly disarming him if he will not do so voluntarilly, and we WILL NOW PROCEED to take the action necessary to assure that he DOES now come into compliance.

But first, let me explain to you just WHY the French, German, and Russian governments opposed us. They claim that they are for peace; yet by refusing to hold Saddam to the serious consequences that the Security Council required, they made war more likely. They claim that the inspections are working; yet the inspections are not working, for Saddam has consistently refused for over twelve years now to voluntarilly, proactively, and completely cooperate with the inspectors by reporting and destroying ALL of his weapons of mass destruction. They claim that the inspectors need more time; yet, Saddam has had twelve years to comply, when he hardly would have even needed twelve weeks, and there is no evidence to indicate that more time will accomplish anything other than to give him more time to build yet more -- and more dangerous and deadly -- weapons of mass destruction. Thus, these cannot be the REAL reasons why the governments of France, Germany, and Russia have opposed us. Thanks to information obtained from our brave and hard working people in our intelligence agencies, we DO know the REAL reason for their opposition, and now I will reveal it to you.

The REAL reason that the governments of France, Germany, and Russia have opposed us is because these governments have actively aided and abetted Saddam's programs to develop weapons of mass destruction. They have made it possible for industries in thier countries to supply Saddam with the technology, and equipment, and supplies he has needed. They have violated international sanctions to do so. And they have done this so that their own industries and governments could make money -- money made at the risk of thousands, perhaps even millions of innocent human lives -- perhaps even your own.

I have asked Secretary of State Colin Powell to give a press conference shortly, in which he will provide to the world's press the full truth about this, including many incontrovertable documents proving these assertions.

It is thus clear that the real reason why the governments of France, Germany, and Russia have opposed us were not the high-sounding sentiments, but rather the most base, treacherous, and dispicible of motives. They would help Saddam to kill innocent people, just for the sake of making a few dollars. And this from nations that we formerly counted as being our friends.

We will not forget, and we will not forgive, this treachery. But neither will we stoop to their same level. But let there be no illusion: relations between the United States and France, Germany, and Russia have been damaged, and it is entirely their fault. Perhaps healing may be possible, but that will be up to them.

That can wait for the time being, however. The more pressing concern is with Iraq, which still possesses dangerous weapons of mass destruction right now, and is capable and intent on producing more. Furthermore, we cannot trust Saddam to not place these in the hands of terrorists, who could try to bring them into our own country and use them against our own people. He must be disarmed, and he must be disarmed now.

We have tried to work through the United Nations. I challenged the United Nations to not make themselves irrelevant. They failed to meet the challenge. I know that there are many of you that hoped that we could work through the United Nations. I know that there are many of you that hoped that a peaceful solution could result. I shared your hope, and did everything I could to make it a reality. But you must now understand that due to this treachery on the part of the French, German, and Russian governments, it is now clear that these governments had become utterly corrupted and hopelessly compromised, to the point that effective, relevant action by the Security Council is now hopeless. This dissapoints me more than any other person on our planet, but we must now face up to facts, and get on with what needs to be done.

And what needs to be done now is to proceed to disarm Saddam Hussein. His time is up. In fact, it was up while I have been speaking to you. I can therefore now announce to you that our brave men and women in uniform have already commenced operations in Iraq. As we speak, they are moving swiftly under cover of darkness to disable Iraq's armed forces, destroy their weapons of mass destruction, and detain Saddam Hussein and his band of thugs. Our men and women in uniform need all of our prayers, and all of our support, and I trust that you will join with me as a united people in seeking God's blessing on them, on this righteous cause, and on these United States of America.

Good night."

Yep - more TV time.

He has to let us all know that we are giving Saddam one last chance. His time is running out. Disarm, or else.

I have been in expectation of the assault coming during the new moon... which the moon phase is currently at 6%. Under cover of darkness, the sky fell

No, it is not that we need to START under a new moon, but that we need to be in Bagdad for the urban warfare phase under a new moon. That is when the cover of darkness will really be most critical. Given that we apparently won't have the Turkish front, that actually means that the timetable is being moved FORWARD rather than BACK. How's that for blowing the conventional wisdom out of the water?

If Bush asks for a whole Prime Time evening, maybe we can get the start and finish of the Liberation of Iraq during the same TV slot.

TONIGHT! Live on NBC!

8pm EST: The Massive Aerial Bombardment hour! (Friends preempted)

9pm EST: Will, Grace, and an Advancing Column of Tanks

10pm EST: Iraq's Funniest Home Videos of Surrenders

11pm EST: Nightly news with Iraqi President Tommy Franks, live from Baghdad.

What about the twenty ships full of equipment still in the Mediterranean?

Do we actually know for certain that they are still in the Mediterranean?

Or even that they EVER WERE IN the Med?

Can you be absolutely certain that they didn't round the Cape of Good Hope a week ago, and are now somewhere in the Indian Ocean, on their way to the Gulf . . . or another trouble spot?
