Some 50 other Swedish anti-war human shield activists who had travelled to Iraq began to leave on Monday, saying they had wanted to protect hospitals and schools but had been forced out to refineries, power plants and water works.

This says it all.

Where did they think they were going?

"We painted a huge sign on the roof saying human shields, so when any planes bombed the target, they'd see they were killing us -- Englishmen and Finns and Turks".

Hmm, so they are putting the brainless shields next to important military targets, and they put big signs on the roofs. Thanks! Now we can just aim for the signs and we're sure to hit a military installation.

Why, oh why, didn't some TV station send a camera crew along with these morons so we could have tons of laughs watching them turn into baskets cases as this thing drags on?

What them make it home and then be asked by the fawning media,
that they were able to stave off the war while they were in Bagdad.

They're holding signs on the side of the road: "will work for fish and chips, but only if you have malt vinegar to go with."

It's too bad they are leaving (do they know something?).

"The buses and taxi, dusty after a six-week overland journey that began at London's Tower Bridge, were plastered with signs saying "No to a war on Iraq" and "No to war, Yes to peace"."

Surely President Martin Sheen will seek funding for this venture from his Whorelywood Congress - ya?

"I think America has no experience with terrorism or even with war. In Europe, we know a little bit more about these things." --Peter Gabriel

"As dumb as this administration is, they don't look ahead. They don't know where any countries are...They don't really know much about anything."

"So when I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.'"

"'We're here, we're queer!' -- that's what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride." -- Janeanne Garofalo

"I believe he thinks this [war against Iraq] is a war that can be won, but there is no such thing anymore...We can't beat anyone anymore" -- George Clooney

"[Bush is a] sad figure: not too well educated, who doesn't get out of America much. He's leading the country towards fascism... he wouldn't understand the word fascism anyway." --Larry Hagman

"It is inappropriate for the [Bush] administration to trump up a case in which we are ballyhooed into war."

But, a few years earlier:

"...the bottom line is that I think it’s appropriate for the international community in situations like this to intervene [in Kosovo]. I am in favor of an intervention. On some level you have to say that at least somebody [Clinton] is doing something." -- Mike Farrell

"We painted a huge sign on the roof saying human shields,"

. . .bomb here!

"I had promised my wife I would get the buses home," he said. "If I don't get them home, we're absolutely stuck."

Well, you know what, buddy? You should have thought of that BEFORE you agreed to do this.
