I wonder if our troops have been given any instructions pertaining to calling off bombing raids if Human Shields are present at the site...I'd be willing to bet that they don't enter the equation at all. If they're bombed, so be it.

Also, note the undercurrent of racism in the quote...thinking that the pilots won't bomb them...after all, they are the "whities" not the "darkies". Do Turks qualify as "whities"?

General Tommy Franks said they would do everything they could not to injure the human shields.

My take is that sometimes, everything one can do is...nothing.
