Washington -- Sen. Dianne Feinstein and President Bush seem headed for a showdown over her effort to renew the federal assault weapons ban after the administration hedged Tuesday on a presidential pledge to support the renewal

This is one issue Bush had better never cave on or it will GUARANTEE he is a one - term president.

I agree with you. I've been very happy with his presidency thus far. There have been only a few bad notes here and there for me. But if he wimps out on this, I'll have to be screaming drunk before I'll be able to get myself to the voting booth.

I just cannot see President Bush supporting an extension. It will be political suicide if he does support one.

Here's my guarantee: Bush will wimp out and cave -- the ban is as good as renewed. Whether or not he'll be a one-term President will have a helluva lot more to do with the success of the WOT and the health of the economy than with the renewal of thi ban, outrageous as it is.
