AUSTRALIA may seek to interrogate captured al-Qaeda deputy Khalid Sheik Mohammed about the terror organisation's links in South East Asia.
Foreign Minister Alexander Downer yesterday said the government was particularly keen to probe Khalid about his knowledge of the Bali bombing and planned attacks by the Indonesian-based extremist group Jemaah Islamyah.
Khalid, 38, lived in the Philippines in the early-1990s, and is believed to have been instrumental in setting up extremist terror groups during that time.
Mr Downer admitted Australia was unlikely to get access to Khalid for some time but he expected the US to share results of its interrogations.
