Finally released after spending half of his life in prison, and still he had to wait. So Christopher Boyce hung around the prison parking lot, rubbernecking, taking in the fresh air around Sheridan, Ore., unsure what to make of freedom. A half hour went by before the big Suburban at last came lumbering up the driveway, carrying his father, a former FBI agent, and his mother, once a Catholic nun.
They had wanted to throw a joyous family reunion right there in front of the gates of the federal penitentiary, to gather around with Chris and his eight younger siblings, perhaps their extended families too. But he said no; he just could not handle such raw emotion so soon. Instead, he quietly climbed into the back seat and they drove east out of the Coast Ranges, headed toward the airport in Portland. He was going to catch a plane to San Francisco, to a halfway house, where, after six months, he could make parole. On March 15, 2003, he finally would be free.

Interesting read...not sure what I think about this guy being out. I'm not really quite sure I believe that he has redeemed himself. Didn't we used to execute people for treason?
Very strange.

Is it me or is it impossible to read the LA Times no without giving them a real email address?

(No, we can't all just get along.)

Nope, ya' have to wait for them to send you a confirmation email!
That's why I never read the Post, LA Times or a lot of other papers anymore...I'm not about to have to remember countless different screen names and passwords just to read an article which I can usually get on other sites.
I personally think the various media sites are cutting their own throats by requiring this; if it gets to the point where yer average Joe hasta stop and register at each individual site that clicking through a series of articles takes him, then he's not gonna do it anymore...and we'll prolly see the death of the internet as we knew it.
There will be a few sites that charge subscriptions, and hold their viewers, but not that many...

Is it me or is it impossible to read the LA Times no without giving them a real email address? Actually, it's not impossible. Do a Google search on the title of the article, then read Google's cached copy of the entire article ;)

He not only escaped prison, while on the run, he robbed numerous banks.....
He is rather unusual.....Not your garden varity crook.....
To: Sir_Ed
Oh, and I agree with that. I avoid most all websites that want sign up, registration and pass word BS.
To: Joe Hadenuf
Yeah, I forgot about that part until I read the article. He got 63 years tacked on for his escape and his bank jobs, but apparently playingalong with Congress in the late '80's was enough to get nice letters to the parole board from folks like Sam Nunn.
Hanging's too good for 'im...
