I think the Pope should go as THE Human Shield in Iraq. He failed to protect the Serbs against ClintoNATO. He has, for reasons unkown to me, abandoned the AMChurch to the little foxes---perhaps a good thing in the long run, but painful to live through nontheless.

This is an unfortunate possibility but don't you think Ratzinger and the JPII are up to counter manipulation? We won't know until some of the smoke clears but I am hoping and praying it is just a deflection and a cloak and that it allows some to get out of Saddam's clutches. The Pope is now so utterly without credibility it is indeed depressing. What a fantastic Cold Warrior he was, side-by-side with Ronald Reagan. But what an utter disappointment to see him embrace Islam as a "great religion of peace", while blinding his eyes to the mass-murder of Christians by Muslims in Asia and Africa.

Why this conflict? Why now? Very disappointing indeed.

I agree...Bush has allowed this fiasco to get out of control. If the Pope speaks to the UN it will only add fuel to the fire of this political/diplomatic disaster and will further erode the little support that still exists. The hour is late and getting later...

I wish the Pope was this passionate about defending Christians living in the Middle East. He has not said boo to help us. I'm sure the Christian minority that lives in Iraq is thrilled with the Pope's helping of their tormentor Saddam Hussein.

I agree with you 100%. I am as Catholic as they come...well maybe not as Catholic as I could be...but still...the Pope needs to pray for a quick ending to the war and just stay out of the limelight on this one. Let him go to North Korea if he feels like stopping a war.
