Heavenly Father,


As the snow falls from the heavens above, so do Your mercies and blessings descend upon us each day. Thank You for the abundant favor You have shown toward our nation throughout the years. Thank You that every truth You have given us in Your Word does not return to You void, but accomplishes what You please. Father, help us to be committed to fitting into Your plans instead of trying to fit you into our own.


Father, You have given us a leader who is alert to the need to protect our nation and to set free the people of a far-away country. We know that You are a God of justice and that You have proclaimed Your blessings for all people. Let none be excluded from Your grace, Father. Help us to bring the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Iraqi people. Help us to set them free from the dictator who steals freedom and life from them. Father, please embolden and strengthen President Bush to do the right thing for America as well as for Iraq. When the truth is finally revealed about the extent of injustice and misery suffered by the Iraqi people, please cause Your Word to be glorified and Your Name to be blessed because of those who pursued justice on their behalf.


Grant our President rest and renewal as he prepares for yet another week of decision-making and planning. Father, let Your wisdom fill his mind as You give him a discerning heart. We pray for wisdom also for our military leaders and for Your holy angels to surround all of our men and women in service. Defend them, O Lord, against those who seek to destroy our nation and its freedoms. Keep them safe from any hidden dangers and hide them in the shadow of Your wings until these calamities have passed by.

Cover Iraq with Your powerful presence that You may lead the unseen army of righteousness in every battle. We commit the success of this imminent war effort to You, Lord, knowing that You will stand on the side of justice and truth.

Convict Your people to pray, Father---for our President, our nation, our families. Convict us to pray for those who represent us in battle, who stand ready to defend us. Bring this nation to its knees in prayer, Lord, for You will hear our cries to You. You will rise up before us and lead us. We place our trust in You as we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
