He praised U.S. operatives working overseas for the grab, which he said proved the American operations have been working successfully behind the scenes. I have maintained for some time now that increased captures of these sleepers and lieutenants will be the immediate pre-cusrsor to the military advance into Iraq.
The Administaration will want to minimize any enemy assets poised to carry out reprisals before we go in.

Which makes you think that the only reason for not snatching them sooner was to collect as much intel as possible.

As important as identifying the al Queerdos, we have their supporters in other Islamofacist Thug controlled countries.

This is not idle chatter from another empty-suit congress-critter. From his
bio via the C-SPAN Members of Congress site.
"A former officer with U.S. Army Intelligence and the CIA, Porter brings personal knowledge and experience to his role as Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence."

He is on ABC and he is impressive,,haven't seen him before, he has the "it" quality that makes a successful politico. a man to be watched. But about the "liberation of Paris",,can we go back and undo that???

This is not idle chatter from another empty-suit congress-critter. No, I suspect it is very authoratitive too. My only concern is why would he say things to get the filthy creeps to change their behavior, lay low etc.. Very dumb unless it is intentional to stir them out of their nests.

But about the "liberation of Paris",,can we go back and undo that??? LOL. I like that story making the rounds where Tom Delay asks a group of French Citizens if they speak German. When one of them answers, "No." Tom Delay says, "You're Welcome!"

Is that from ABC? I don't get it until 11:30E.

They captured this guy because they want a few days to wring intel out of him.
I predict that in a few days, there will be several more arrests.
And within about twenty four hours of those arrests, or maybe less, the war will begin.
I personally think we are now less than one week away from the start of the war.

We can only hope you are right. I am concerned we have waited too long given Saddam's actions and the Turks etc. This is begiinning to feel like we are the girl waiting for the guy to propose and he keeps having reasons not to. Dont misunderstand, I am worried Bush is in a trap and it dismays me. This needs to start soon.
To: cajungirl
Bush has not led us wrong so far. Be patient.

Though poorly worded...I get the gist of your question.
I didn't mean they were waiting to grab Shaike Mohammed right before going in.
I stated that right before going in there would be an increase in the number of these arrests.
If they strike and nab as many as the can as soon as they can, our guys will be faced with having to start the process all over because the ones they arrest will be replaced rather quickly the bad guys.
Better to keep them under surveillance and grab them right before we go in so there is no time for the other side to replace them and get their plans for reprisal attacks back on track.
Remember, the Iraqis and others have stated that if we attack Iraq, there will be a flood of reprisal attacks on US soil. I would take that threat seriously if I were in charge of security over here.

The September 2001 attacks on New York and Washington by hijacked airliners killed about 3,000 people.

I wish I knew. There are some issues. With the basing of troops in Turkey now in question, I understand the 4th ID will take a couple of weeks to re-deploy by sea to the Persian Gulf. That is no small task.

Al Qaeda was being forced into a reactive rather than strategic mode. Sounds like a good read. That makes a lot of sense.
