"If war is forced upon us [Read: If I decide to take us to war], we will fight in a just cause and by just means..." What in the heck is your point? There is only one way that there will be no war with Iraq, that is Saddam and his government dead or in exile. So yes there is an "alternative" but it is so remote as to be laughable.
My point is that the President is being far more equivocal on the subject than you are. My point is that "If war is forced upon us" is an exceedingly odd thing for a President to say after having been handed a declaration of war by Congress.
