This just illustrates another sad chapter in United Nations history. If not for the leash of the UN, Bush 41 could have and probably would have finished Saddam off in '91. And because the United States was not strong enough then, not willing to stand up to the pressure of world opinion and do what is right and complete the job, here we are again in 2003.

And now, we are about to see if the ineffective, immoral United Nations will again screw things up, and if the United States will let them do so, or whether it will shake off that soiled leash for once and for all.

I don't know why on Earth we are still making a pretense that the United Nations should matter. With countries such as Syria on the council and Libya heading human rights, its just another heap of garbage in the trashcan of history.

The wild dog story is so gruesome, I will have nightmares. It is hard to believe anyone can be that cruel. That man has to be killed. A trial is too good for him. Except maybe his victims to-be might enjoy testifying against him.

We've got to go soon. It's getting ridiculous. Our loyal allies, esp. Arabic, are getting tired.

A transcript of the Iraqi-American town meeting is available here:

Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz Town Hall Meeting with Iraqi-American Community

Ahsan Alwatan (center), 13, was introduced to Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz (left) by his father (right) during the deputy's visit to Dearborn, Mich., Feb. 23, 2003. Ahsan's uncle "Dave" Alwatan, behind Ahsan, said the boy suffered brain damage when he was kicked in the head 12 years ago by Saddam Hussein's soldiers. Photo by Rudi Williams.

This needs to be reposted (not just bumped) on Monday morning, EST. People look for new articles to indicate their importance. Lots of good articles that are posted during the night never rocket to the top because they don't get the proper attention.

A BTT. I'm hitting the street with a sign and a flag tomorrow, a thing which I almost never do. It won't be for Bush, whom I like, nor because Saddam might toast my town with something nasty he sends through his terrorist friends, although he could. It'll be because of these people.

Thanks for the post. I'm printing it out to take with me.
