[history]
UNITED NATIONS - In a critical assessment, chief U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix says Iraq's disarmament has been "very limited" because Baghdad hasn't provided crucial evidence about its chemical, biological and missile programs, according to the draft of his new report to the U.N. Security Council.

I just can't believe that the Iraqis aren't being totally open and forthright. Their history does not support Blix's claim. I'm calling Martin Sheen and I asking him to set Blix straight.

This reminds me of an old Steve Martin movie,
The Man With Two Brains.
Martin's character's first wife has died and he is devoted to her; he meets Kathleen Turner and falls madly for her.
He goes into the den at his house to "talk" to his dead wife's portrait about marrying Turner.
He tells her he wants to marry her and he'd really appreciate it if she'd just send him some kind of sign that she approved, whereupon the doors fly open, the windows fly up, the curtains flap in the wind, the furniture starts moving around the room, the wind starts howling, her portrait spins around, and "she" can be heard wailing, "Nooooooooooo" from the after life.
Martin calmly looks at her portrait and says
"Just send me some kind of sign, any kind, I'll be watching for it" and walks off to marry Kathleen Turner.

But Blix said Wednesday there is still no evidence that Saddam has made "a fundamental decision" to disarm. How shocking.

TM winners will back up Martin Sheen.
Didn't the Arab spokesman from South Africa say that Iraq was disarming as fast as it could, like SA did? How can Blix be so wrong about the heroic warriors of the new socialist world revolution, the Iraqis, pals and comrades to the French, the Bader-Meinhof retread Fischer, KGB agent Putin, Zemin the wily Chinamen, Sean Penn, BaaBaa Streisand... and Hillary Clinton?

| In a critical assessment, chief U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix says... I wish these guys in the media would get their stories straight. The AP tells us here that this is a critical assessment from Blix, but Reuters just said it's a "crucial" assessment. I'll bet it's actually pivotal, and they just don't want to tell us.
I sat through Blix's last key speech, which was also momentous and vital, but I didn't hear anything that was even important. |

U.N. chief weapons inspector Hans Blix smiles before meeting with German CDU opposition party leader Angela Merkel, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, in his office in New York. Iraq still hasn't committed to disarming, the chief U.N. inspector said, but he appeared to push for continued weapons inspections ahead of a debate by a divided Security Council on a U.S. draft resolution authorizing war against Saddam Hussein (news - web sites). I'm about tired of these schizophrenic news reports. One minute they're cooperating, the next they're not. One minute Hans Blix is reporting on 1 March, then he's not reporting to the UNSC till 7 March. I say the President just needs to get on with it. I know we're still trying to get troops in place, but sheesh, this is getting to the point of ridiculousness.

Sarcasm is one of my better personality traits. The Sticker is assumed, when my name is near. You could shave in my shoes sir but it would be better to wear your own. (Humor Sticker). Haven't had an open ranks inspection since early seventies. Gig line is straight, white walls present, hair off collar, moustasche is cut like Hitler.

My apologies for posting this and arousing angst.
I, too, see all kinds of conflicting stuff flying over the wires.
I , too , also agree that we need to get this thing done. Before the media spins itself out of existence... or relevance.
Its part of the 24x7 world we live in.
Soon, very soon. Baghdad..FRee. Count on It!
