Short of Bill Clinton's administration, I can't think of any group more discredited than al-Qaida.

They do make a lot of false threats. But we'll probably get hit just when everyone concludes they are all talk and no action. I think that Afganistan really hurt their recruiting, and the FBI has probably broken up a lot of their sleeper cells. Just not all.
