The League failed because it could not create
actions from its words. It could not back diplomacy
with the credible threat and, where necessary, the
use of force.
So small evils went unchecked, tyrants became
emboldened, then greater evils were unleashed. At
each stage good men and women said not now wait,
the evil is not big enough to challenge. Then,
before their eyes, the evil became too big to
challenge. We had slipped down a slope, never
noticing how far we had gone until it was too late.
We owe it to our history as well as to our future
not to make the same mistake again.
I wish everyone could see it this way. Sigh...

He won. Blair won.
Man, these papers can parse and spin.
I wouldn't call it a lie the way they attempt to muddy langauge, but darn near close to it.

Maybe British politics work differently, but over here a 2/3 majority is usually considered pretty good!

Unbelievable to me that so many Britons want to make their nation's interests subservient to the will of an international body unable to enforce it's own edicts.
As if the U.N. were a giant teat that has to feed every nation.
If Al Qaeda were to hit London, I'm sure the national mood in the U.K. would change. I hope they're spared the misery NYC had to endure, but I also pray they'll wake up.
