Yes, RIAA members determine the prices of their products, guided by supply and demand. The nifty retort you're trying to make would have more impact like this: "And sometimes RIAA members determine prices by getting together and fixing them."
That said, the MAP settlement you're referencing was a sham. Nobody held a gun to anyone's heads forcing them to buy CDs for any particular price. Your use of the word "claim," of course, reveals where you stand. And I thought this was a "conservative" board...

What make the MPA settlement a sham? Because all purchases were voluntary? The Attorneys General of 43 states don't seem to think so. Please enlighten me with your legal acumen.
Use of the word claim came straight from the MAP settlement. Only RIAA penguins would take offense. Unless, of course, you are confusing claim with handout. If the latter is the case then you have no idea where I stand ideologically.
