SACRAMENTO - The Assembly moved slowly Tuesday to deal with a new package of budget cuts as the controller warned that lack of quick action on California's gaping deficit could force more state borrowing this summer.

Assembly Democrats agreed to hold a committee hearing next week on a package of about $8.6 billion in budget cuts and funding shifts approved Monday by the Senate, but Speaker Herb Wesson said there was no guarantee the full Assembly would take up the legislation next week.

Norm do you realize how almost passe politcal articles are in the state's major publications in a time of really massive upheaval.

For you and I that translates to very few political articles worth posting on this forum each day leaving the "California" topic a rather low key forum.

Can you appreciate the tidal bore of provoking, unflatering, critical articles if there was just one major, "balanced", newspaper in California.

Nope, we're stuck with the Chronicle, the Times and the Bees.

I hear ya re: "low key" forum ... LOL

How about we kick 'em where it hurts then and start our own conservative paper? :-p

Isn;t that what Richard Rairdon was going to do? I don;t hear diddly squat from that paragon of conservative virtues lately, do you?

Ya make pie with what ya got. Lately, all we got is manure..

I've got a more feasible suggestion.

Let's lobby JimRob to allow controlled vanity on this forum. In view of the lack of conservative, mainstream newspapers in California JimRob could select a group of his own choosing and allow them to offer regular Op Eds on the California forum.

They could publish under the banner of California Freeper News.

Thanks for the link Norm.

a quick glance shows it to be a format similar to our's except a lot more obscure.

It links to the big, liberal media and adds an editorial section.

Why can't we just add an editorial section? We've got a hundred times the readership.

Ageed for the most part. It was just an idle thought.

I have too damn many bookmarks ;-).. I agree "It links to the big, liberal media" .. plus Lyn Nofziger? Yeesh!

I haven;t been there in months come to think of it.

Goeff Metcalf is OK.
