Gov. Gray Davis' potential vulnerability to a recall was underscored this week when a respected polling organization found that a whopping 72 percent of likely California voters believe that he's doing a poor job, essentially agreeing with recall leader Ted Costa's assertion that he's guilty of "gross mismanagement."

Anybody is better than Davis.
Not necessarily. The reasoning goes like this.
Davis, if harboring continued political asperations, will likley continue to wrangel with the legislature to devise a financial plan that substantially reduces California deficits by the end of his term. Any real reduction will require massive cuts in state budget expenditures which is abhorant to California's brand of utopian Democrats. Davis would also seek to broaden his base of national appeal and would avoid, at all costs, the label of Californuia's greatest taxer.
On the other hand a RINO like Riordan or a moderate Democrat (by California standards) with no national asperations would be much more lkely to quickly compromise with the zealots in the legislature and negotiate a "balanced" solution utilizing moderate spending cuts combined with substantial tax and fee increases.
The logic is that Californians are likley to be subjected to smaller tax increases in the next 48 months under Davis' administartion than under Riordan's.
Then you don't know Tricky Dick Riordan.
It really should go to McClintock, but I have no problem with Bill Jones now. Arnie is a sexual predator and will be sliced and diced, Riordan will be like giving a blank check and absolute control to John Burton. We'd be better off with Davis if the latter 2 try to go for it.
