Why does it seem some of the stupidest ones end up on the Intelligence Committee?

The Beckley Register-Herald adds:

Rockefeller said he's convinced that internationally the "tide is turning against" the U.S., partly because of what Rockefeller called a certain "bravado" in Bush's overseas policies.

"It's sort of a coming together of years of resentment about the United States as now the only world super power," he said.

"The president has put forth a ... pre-emptive philosophy (that the U.S. can) spread democracy and freedom wherever we want.

"It plays very badly out there. They think we're arrogant," the senator said. source

They, Senator? Or you?

"Rockefeller, the ranking member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said he had the opportunity to visit with many West Virginians in the National Guard, reserve and regular military units and was impressed with the "cooperation" and resolve exhibited by the servicemen and women".

Impressed, and probably surprised, despite his best efforts to obtain the exact opposite. Goes to show ya that he knows nothing about our military. And never will.

Senato Rockefeller says the Bush Administration seems to be intent on going to war.

Like it was a BAD thing.

"I spoke with the chief of Pakistan's intelligence forces..."

I bet that was a real battle of wits.
