The reason, in part, is that not enough nonblack students want to attend schools in predominantly black neighborhoods.

Make the schools good and they will. My daughter went to a school that was predominantly black, in a predominantly black neighborhood (in florida). In fact she had to apply, and there was a long waiting list. Make the schools good.

My wife is a CPA, working in the utility area. I am a broker of heavy oil (asphalt, roofing asphalt and Number 6 fuel oil). We are supposed to get another 2 inches of snow tonite here in mid-MO...
We moved down here from Mpls to get out of the snow belt. So far, Missouri has receieved more snow than the Twin Cities.

Back in the late sixties my Dad was cruxified by the NY Times, the NJ Star Ledger, and the NJ State Department of Education when, as a Superintendent, he tried to minimise the damage to neighnorhood schools in his District by fighting off the School Busing Nazis.

Busing destroys the vital neighborhood connection to schools. It adds NOTHING.

I'm surprised this story hasn't gotten more attention. This is unbelievable. What are the chances that the NAACP will voluntarily withdraw the agreement? I can't for the life of me understand how maintaining the quotas will guarantee the education opportunity for the minorities. Is it because of the feeling that all of the "good" teachers gravitate to the white schools? Well, if that's true, bus the teachers!

A school like a church is not a building. A tax paid teacher that pursicutes the child of a soldier is actively leading the nation to destuction, it would be far better for that child to learn to read fom the Bible at the knee of its mother.
