[history]
THREE-quarters of the likely voters in California don't like the job Gov. Gray Davis is doing, says a poll released today.
Delegates at the state Republican party's convention this past weekend not only agreed -- of course they would -- they endorsed a recall to unelect the Democratic governor.

It may not fix it, but it's a good start.

Twenty-six billion dollars cannot be extracted from the budget without millions of Californians feeling the loss, either in taxes paid or services denied -- a fact that electing and recalling half a dozen governors wouldn't change.
Then vote out all the demRatic socialists who spend and spend and tax and tax and spend some more.

The headline reminds me of the plaintive wail from clintonistas that hounding their beloved leader never fed a hungry child.

Recalling Gov. Davis won't fix the budget... and impeachment never fed a hungry child...
Same old song and dance from the democRATs. "Don't hold me accountable for my actions, it won't fix the problem."
Excuse governor Davis, but you are the problem. Getting rid of you is the beginning of the fix.
To: The_Victor
If you have an infectious agent that's causing the disease you remove it to cure it. We're not going to restore California's fiscal health as long as Gray Davis remains in charge. He's part of the problem not part of the solution.

You beat to the post, but great minds.... :)
and let me correct my first post. It should read Excuse me governor Davis...
To: The_Victor
getting rid of Davis, replacing him with another D, keeping all the liberals in the state house does NOT solve the problem. I say, let Davis stay, and in 2 years sweep out the liberals, and in 2 more let Arnold run.

It won't fix it but it will punish
Davis for his part in this mess!
To: upcountryhorseman
Davis has been a leech on this state for years. Another New Yorker gone west who has done no good for anyone but himself and his donors.
To: NormsRevenge
I just wish we could punish the morons who voted for Davis last November.
Suggested punishments:
- No voting in California elections for 10 years;
- A scarlet letter "I" for idiot stitched onto their clothing;
- Tattoos on their foreheads saying, "I voted for stupid!";
- Wearing bleached white hair cut and combed like Gray Davis for 90 days.
Any other ideas?

"getting rid of Davis, replacing him with another D""Twenty-six billion dollars cannot be extracted from the budget without millions of Californians feeling the loss, either in taxes paid or services denied -- a fact that electing and recalling half a dozen governors wouldn't change."
By this logic there is no sense in punishing a murderer who says "I'm sorry" because punishment will not bring back the lost loved one. Justice must be done, and Davis needs to go.
As for replacing Davis, Victor, you need to understand that on the same ballot as the recall the voter gets to select the new governor. The office does not just go to the Lt Governor. So, a recall could give us a Republican.

The Murk brings out its kneepads again. Reminiscent of '98 when they came out with an editorial in which they claimed that Clinton should resign, but won't, so therefore he should not be impeached. (Yes, that is what the editorial said.)

Since I live in Texas, gov. Davis' fate is of little direct concern to me. I just find the liberal press' logic in this to be baffling. If I were allowed to vote in CA, I would definitly want to be rid of the lying weasle, regardless of the political consequences in 2004.
