Just imagine the government that spent 10 times what it would have cost to free the slaves through payment to kill over 600,000 men and balloon government spending to over $600 million dollars. A Republican did that. They also established the first national tax, reestablished the national bank, and started internal improvement plans that have consistently failed. Now Stalin would have been proud of that!!
