Can I take my kids (5 and 7) to see this movie? You can take them. There is not much blood, certainly no profanity or sex. But there is no way a five-year-old is going to sit still for nearly four hours. You will miss most of the movie taking him out and telling him to sit still and be quiet. My eight-year-old sat through half of it and he is absolutely fascinated by the war (as well as knowing half of the reenactors, since he's a reenactor as well). But two hours was all he could handle. My advice? Leave the kids at home with a sitter and go with your spouse and buddies. There are civilian scenes that are very moving for your wife if she's not interested in the battle scenes.

You sure can. My husband took our four children yesterday. One was 7, one was eight. My dh said they say still better than he did. Your the children's parent and you know best what they can handle.
Our children loved it. We also saw Gettysburg this past weekend at home. It was a pleasure for them to get the truth. They can't wait till it is out on DVD.

Only if they can sit still for four hours. They may not be old enough to understand what is happening on screen. It has several loud battle scenes. I suspect 5 and 7 might be too young just yet.

Can I take my kids (5 and 7) to see this movie? My first instinct is to say no, only because of the length. However, there is no profanity, nudity and the battle scenes are not graphic. If your children have any interest in history and can sit still that long, I would say definitely yes.
It is rated PG-13 only because of the battle scenes...but then I would think you aren't raising your kids to be anti-gun! :-)
