As a former 67T, this really hits home hard. One thing civilians need to understand, not trying to preach, is our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines do a very dangerous job even in peacetime. Aviation is inherently dangerous, even when not being shot at. R.I.P., my brothers; and may the loving arms of the Lord comfort you.

Former aircraft maintenance here - amen to what you said - even in the best of conditions, it's stuff that the man on the street wouldn't do.

I fully agree, Freedom.

When a chopper goes down for any reason, those spinning blades are deadly.....and that doesn't count all the other normal crash issues.

Learning to fly in the sandy environment is tough. I heard on some news blurb that we're in the dust storm season. That is especially dangerous for helicopters.
