I guess her political views aren't that important to her if she's not willing to break the "rules" to get her point across. Hell, even Martin Sheen lets himself get arrested when he stands up for his views (misguided and wrong as they are).
She didn't even have to break the rules. All she had to do was flip the left side of her hair back so people could see her guitar strap, but she didn't want to ruin all that time she & her stylists and colorists spent on her hair.
She's vacuous and shallow.
