As for her "protests" against Clinton's foreign policies, particularly regarding Irag and Kosovo, she was non-existent. And she knows it. Hence the "funny" admission that she had spit. Ha, ha. You funny girl...
At the end of the interview, Tony Snow asked if she would support our troops and, naturally, she said she would. Unfortunately, Snow managed to let her off the hook by not following up with another question, "If we go to war against Irag, will you then support our troops' quest for victory?"
I would have been interested in hearing her shuck and jive her way around that one. We probably would have been treated to more of that well-known Garofalo humor...the kind she displays in most of her movies.
Let's face it...Irag, terrorism, et.al. has done wonders in resuscitating dead entertainment careers. Springsteen, McCartney and others have literally been able to cash in by wrapping themselves in the American flag. Others, like Garofalo, Mike Farrell and Sean Penn, are trying the opposite approach and are meeting with little success...thankfully.
That ending is just a clever way for a Conservative interviewer to make it clear that he isn't calling the Liberal "unAmerican" or a "traitor". If she hadn't answered the way she did, there would have been an even softer ball.
