What's up with this word "hegemony"? That's a word you never used to hear, but now all these idiots are suddenly spouting it like they've been using it all their life. It reminds me of the sudden emergence of the word "gravitas".

"Damnit, I tuned into the replay 6pm ET, and just as she was introduced, they cut away for a news conference. The governor of RI needed to report on what a good job he is doing, and to raise the death toll to 97."
It's just as well. You'll keep your dinner down at least.
Whilst informing everyone on the great job he is doing, did he spew forth anyting about "bringing closure" yet?

"Hegemony" was a favorite $10 word of leftists in the early 1970s. The CIA was plotting for world hegemony, the Soviet Union and China were the last barriers to capitalist world hegemony, control of Middle Eastern oil would give the USA world hegemony, the Trilateral Commission schemed in secret to achieve hegemony, yadda yadda. IMO the reappearance of the word simply shows that the same old leftists are behind the "peace" "movement".

However, I will give her points for going on to FNC shows and taking the heat for her oppinions. Something most Hollywooders don't do.

At the end of the interview, Tony Snow asked if she would support our troops and, naturally, she said she would. Unfortunately, Snow managed to let her off the hook by not following up with another question, That ending is just a clever way for a Conservative interviewer to make it clear that he isn't calling the Liberal "unAmerican" or a "traitor". If she hadn't answered the way she did, there would have been an even softer ball.

In fact, I think a lot of people would say his dastardly deeds peaked in the late '80s Tell that to the victims of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center.

I blame Orson Scott Card and his Ender's Game. Good book, Hegemony pops up a lot during the reading though.

"The Anglo-American war in Iraq has been going on for many years. I mean, we can go back as far as the Carter doctrine, when in the Mideast they started nationalizing their own oil, thereby strengthening OPEC, and we decided to do something about that."
Ummm... so what did Carter do to increase US influence in the region? Oh, that's right. He helped depose a corrupt regime for an evil, anti-American regime.
