Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., warmed up a crowd of GOP leaders in Missouri last week by saying, "Do you know how many Frenchmen it takes to defend Paris? It's not known; it's never been tried."

And this: "Somebody was telling me about the French army rifle that was being advertised on eBay the other day -- the description was, 'Never shot. Dropped once.' "

And this, too: "Going to war without the French is like going deer hunting without your accordion."

The New York Post branded France and Germany "the axis of weasel," then ran a doctored page-one photo that put giant weasel heads on the shoulders of the French and German ambassadors to the United Nations.

France owns a lot of companies in the U.S. that it is counting on to save it in this boycott. We need a list of French-owned or partially-owned companies to boycott as well to make it effective.

Thanks for the list. I've printed it out, and will be making copies to give out.

Do you know the names of American companies that are owned by the French?

We're boycotting Sesame Street because Kermit's a Frog. Oh, and Pepe Le Pue, too.

There was a funny comment in a skit on last night's Saturday Night Live: "Chris Matthews" (played by Darrell Hammond) yells to "Dominique de Villepin" (played by a hilarious Christopher Walken): "What have the French contributed to world culture in the last 50 years? All you've given us is that Depardieu guy and that horny skunk!" LOL

There's a few noted in the list above. Motel 6, owned by Accor (Sofitel, Ibis hotels, etc.). I guess Poland Springs and Deer Park water is owned by Perrier, which I didn't realize. Hachette Fillipacchi Media magazines (see extended list above).

Aventis pharmaceuticals with brand names like Allegra, Lasix, and Nasacort.

Allegra - that's a big name here in the US. I didn't realize that came from a French company.

Michelin tires sold in the USA are MADE IN THE USA....don't put thousands of American workers out of a job because a French family...who are VERY PRO-AMERICAN, by the way, happens to own that company.

Greenville,S.C. is home to a HUGE Michelin plant!!

Deer Park, Poland Springs, Perrier, Vittel, Calistoga, and Sanpelligrino are all owned by Nestle. Do we boycott all Nestle products? Are they Swiss-owned? They do have a couple of p.c. paragraphs on their website about doing business in the Middle East with the utmost respect for different cultures and religions, blah blah blah.

What American company is still in the bottled water business?

Ctazykatz, I disagree.....Boycotting French products means that they will be substituted by American products. The French economy loses, the American economy wins. It's that simple.

You are missing the point here...MICHELIN TIRES SOLD IN THE USA ARE MADE BY AMERICANS RIGHT HERE IN THE USA!!

Thousands of Americans in Geenville, S.C. thank you for your concern for their future and the future of their families!!

Americans do not need to hurt other AMERICANS in some silly retaliation boycott for some insipid FRENCH POLITICAN's WORDS!!!

I suppose YOU work for yourself....or a purely, "wholely owned AMERICAN company". Lucky you. PSSBTTTTTTTTT.

You assume that ALL those companies who have French owners like Chiraq and his anti-American policies. And, what about the Millions of Americans who work for those companies here in the USA??? Oh, well... they don't count to you do they?

Oh, well.... guess I'd better call my cousin in S.C. and tell him that just because he works for Michelin, he is a traitor to the USA.

Oh, what the heck... and his son who is an Army Ranger and his daughter who is a nurse in the Navy....well...you folks don't count for anything 'cause your Daddy works for a French company!!

Boycott IMPORTS...not MADE IN THE USA goods!!

We made much bigger sacrifices in World War II. And America itself was not even threatened. The threat is much greater now. Making sacrifices is not a bad thing. It's a good thing and it's what made America great.
