The funny thing is stultis Tina is no liberal she may have to play one on tv but she is also the head snl writer and writes up many of the anti-lefty skits you see. Her mother actually worked for Dubya's campaign.

[(very faint) swoosh of feather... (very loud) thud]

"Tina writes many of the anti-liberal pieces"

Are you sure? I thought it was Jim Downey who was the real conservative Republican on the SNL staff. It's Downey who writes the debate-sketches and such.

The libs on the show can't block Downey's sketches because they're acknowledged by everyone as being the best.

Downey had this cool quote in the Live From New York book. He said that often times the show was horribly unbalanced against Republicans. What many writers would do is achieve "balance" by gently ribbing the liberal politicians about being "too intellectual" or "too aloof from the common man." But he noted that that was hardly "balanced" when you were calling the other guys (the Republicans) insane, corrupt, dangerous racist criminals. Hw kind of laughed at the bias there.

And when people were surprised that he hit Gore so hard in the debate sketches, they said that the show was now "tilting to the right." Downey responds by saying NO, there's no real tilt to the right; but that his sketches are actually fair in that they hit both candidates hard, rather than always just hitting the Republican hard and gently ribbing the liberal. And that many people, therefore, take that as "bias" -- just because they've never seen an actual fairly-written sketch.

Which is pretty much what goes on with Fox News.
