Zainab made an interesting statement regarding the so-called "peace" marches, that there has been no such peace in Iraq for the past 15 years, because of widespread torture and oppression under Saddam.

Have you ever heard of the Thugee Cult? If they somehow made a resurgence here, would you want them banned, or at least watched? I think hypertolerance can get us killed. Now, I don't believe there is an exact corrolary between iSLAM and Thugeeism, but there is a similarity, at least in their propensity to murder other religious people when they can get away with it:

Despite her appearance, many men who claimed to have seen her in visions describe her as being placid and delightful, motherly and fine. (A religion of peace?)

Kali inspired the cult of Thagna (or Thugee). The Cultists (Thugs) made it their sacred duty to waylay innocent travelers and strangle them to death with knotted cloths.

The word 'thagna' means to deceive and the Thugs lived in the community as respected and orderly citizens. They were well liked, prominent men who led double lives. (The Koran gives Muslims the right to lie if it is to decieve infidels.)

What started as a serious religious attitude later became a method of personal gain for the unscrupulous. The cult was especially active during early Victorian days in India although the British tried their best to suppress the murderous side of it.

Kali stands for energy, both creative and destructive. Her cult is linked to Tantric practices (which aim to enable men to rise above their sexual nature by gaining full control over themselves). In her positive aspect Kali is named Durga, Kumari or Parvati. The city of Calcutta was named after her.

There are a few ignorant slobs around who jack themselves up by smearing all Muslims. To have a Muslim woman waving an American flag, and praising America, and calling for the liberation of Iraq, is unsettling to them, and forces them to again look into the mirror at the hateful slobs looking back.

Conservatives are big on justice. There is nothing more unjust than to subscribe to prejudice. We all have an interest in confronting prejudice. Hence President Bush should be commended for his excellent leadership in this facet, too, and women such as Zainab should be, as well.

Faiths have been hijacked throughout history and the faithful have borne the brunt of the responsability.

This time is no different, except that in this case the faithful have been less than forthcoming in their defense.

More muslims need to address the issue. Not just here but in the countries where standing up to radicals will cost them their lives.

I really think your thinking is about 180 degrees off course at this juncture. When I wrote my post, I was SPECIFICALLY referring to my fear that she had better check six lest she be offed by Muslims who cannot tolerate women speaking the truth -- just as the world's only female Muslim comedian has been attacked physically only once while performing -- and that was by Muslims.

That woman has NOTHING to fear from Bubba and Billy-Bob -- and EVERYTHING to fear from Abdullah and Muhammad.

Only those who have not seen God endlessly argue about religion. Perhaps you have noticed that it is the empty cart which makes the most noise.

Kali is not a creature. Far from it. Kali is the creative aspect of God, the Power of God. Milk and its whiteness, the gem and its lustre, fire and its power to burn. You can't think of one without thinking of the other. God and His power. They are one and the same. Kali is the embodiment of the power of God. Millions upon millons of people today worship God in the creating/preserving/destroying aspect of His power, but they do not commit murder. To condemn the worship of Mother Kali because of thuggees in previous centuries is to also condemn Christianity for the crusades or for the Klan.

Moral equvilance and moral relativism may be fun, but your statement is a wild, wild stretch, even in that loopy field.

BTW: The crusades were a defensive reaction to Islam's bloody conquest of Europe.

Anyway, I have no problem living alongside any other religion, as long as its defining documents do not call for my opression and/or slaughter if I will not convert. I'm not calling for any maltreatment of Muslims, just for taking an honest look at their religion and not whitwashing it as a religion of peace. Sticking one's head in the sand does make the danger go away.

What nonsense. Most Muslims in America know, appreciate, and cherish the freedoms which many native-born Americans are now sneering at. I'm searching for peaceful Muslims, but the security of this nation cames first. Not to mention that Allah is a fake and we need to convert them to be christians that is really our duty. Other than that they are lost souls!
