I was amused yesterday to hear a flack on NPR whining about how Chamberlain's actions in Munich had caused appeasement to become a pejorative term. After all (he argued), Roosevelt and other pre-war leaders also engaged in self-professed appeasement.

After all (he argued), Roosevelt and other pre-war leaders also engaged in self-professed appeasement. So did the flake ever explain how the SOURCE of the appeasement policies made a difference? Somehow made it NOT appeasement? Somehow made it no less reprehensible and disastrous?!
