There you go. I tried to break it up into paragraphs so it'd be easier to read. I hope I did a good enough job. Like I said at the beginning my sister is a big civil war buff and loves movies. I haven't seen it yet, but can't wait 'till I do.

Yes, it was indeed long, but well-done; I really enjoyed Duvall's performance, as well as Jeff Daniel's. Saw it this past Tuesday in Poway, California.

I thought that "kind of long" was going to be your review.

I do plan on seeing it soon.

Fine job with the posting BBFan.    Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

Nice review, but I disagreed with it. I thought the movie sucked ROYALLY!!

I was big fan of Gettysburg, and except for the lame facial hair I thought it was a teriffic flick.....and I'm a huge fan of all things Civiil War.

In Gods...the monologues were over wrought and self important, the acting way over the top and you could tell the characters (I use the term loosely because there was no character developement to speak of) had lines written for them by people who were judging the importance of the Civil War from looking backward in history-not from the mouths of the men caught in the thick of a moment.

A LAME AND DISAPPOINTING FILM!!!!

Just a note here: The next Freeper Reading Club assignment is "Traveller" which is a novel of the Civil War seen from the point of view of Robert E. Lee's horse, Traveller. This novel was written by Richard ("Watership Down") Adams and is quite incredible. FreepMail me if you want to be placed on the Freeper Reading Club Ping List.

The Brits always do historical movies and TV series best. "Fall Of Eagles" comes to mind as well as "Cromwell."

Ang Lee, a director from Taiwan, made the most authentic Civil War movie I've ever seen, Ride With the Devil.

Has no-one noticed one important fact about this film????

TED TURNER PICTURES

It sure is hard for me to support that liberal pile of crap, regardless of how "wonderful" this film is. Here we sit and post on a conservative message board, griping and complaining about the liberals in the media, marxists, businesses that support terrorism or the liberal causes - and then folks here can't help themselves from encouraging folks to see a film by one of the kings of liberal BS - Ted Turner.

I must admit that I wanted to see this film - before I noticed his name on the marquee....
