Samuelian will not face charges

"There is insufficient admissible evidence” to charge Assemblyman Steve Samuelian on a misdemeanor charge of loitering for the purpose of soliciting an act of prostitution, the Fresno City Attorney’s Office ruled Thursday.

More than two weeks after Samuelian, R-Clovis, was stopped by police officers, City Attorney Hilda Cantu Montoy announced her decision to a packed room of reporters and at Fresno City Hall.

She said: “This office has an aggressive policy for prosecuting these types of cases. The evidence presented indicated there was reason to believe that a violation of Fresno Municipal Code 8-107 occurred. We carefully and thoroughly considered all the evidence which would be admissible at trial and determined that the evidence does not support the likelihood of conviction.”

Not exactly a view toward guilt or innocence. More of a "damned by faint praise"

Probably well reccomended advice from the Fresno County District Attorney's Office.

A political win/win for all involved except Samuelian. The mayor and district attorney say "We didn't do anything" and the chief of police whispers "gotya" with a sly smile.

Huh? This is a win/win for Steve. First of all, he's vindicated. Second of all, the witch hunt perpetrators look like the crap they are. And third of all, I predict a backlash against all those who jumped on the witch hunt bandwagon. How do you figure a political win/win for all involved except Steve?

AND FURTHERMORE . . . Those hypocritical holier-than-thou Republicans better come down off their high horses and ivory towers and stop setting themselves up at judge and jury and God Almighty. You just wait and see . . . the grass roots is thoroughly disgusted with the GOP "napalm politics" in the Valley. Steve Samuelian deserves an official apology and he better get it. We will not be satisfied until that happens. For victory & freedom!!!

In this case it is obvious that someone doesn't like Samuelian. Someone had to allow officers to recommend a cite for a prominent public official from field notes. Good gracious, a uniformed officer doesn't make that kind of political decision. That's well above his pay grade. My suspicion ... the chief of police.

Let's assume Dyer made that decision. The damage was done and the matter was dumped in Autry's and Egan's lap. Autry lisentens to Egan, gagues the pulse of local Republicans (including you Saundra) says "not in my name" and Hilda damns Samuelian with faith praise.

1) Deyer doesn't catch your wrath because he's made no public statements but the seeds of suspicion are sown.

2) Autry doesn't get publically involved but the time it takes him to test the political wind, further damages Samuelian and Autry remains in good graces with the local, Republican power structure.

3) After advising Autry of this cleaver out, Egan dodges the bullet because Autry's decision means she doesn't have to prosecute the case. No Republican blood on her hands to screw up the next election cycle for her non political office.

Dyer, Autry, and Egan all escape your personal wrath and propably that of many other Republican loyalists, yet the seed of doubt of Samuelian's character is planted giving Radanovich/DerManouel/Duncan/Nunes/Parsions cover for their statements.

Win/Win

I do not agree but Lager says you're right on. I'm looking for that backlash from the grass roots against the "dirty five" and I hope Steve sues the pants off of a pile of Republicans and witch hunt mongers. In the end, I believe this will help Steve because ordinary folks feel sorry for him and his family. It's obvious he was targeted. But your analysis is well taken. For the record, I attended central committee meeting Tues night and the tension in the air was really evident. Looked like Jane Parsons was running scared and when Der Manouel got up to speak there was dead silence. A lot of folks remain really pissed and we're not going to let go of this for a while yet. For victory & freedom!!!

Los Angeles defense lawyer Mark Geragos, who was retained by Samuelian last week

Can't think of any innocent people who've hired this guy - LOL!!

I guess you're pretty happy your guy is "off the hook". But legally, Condit is off the hook too. I'm not happy about either of them. Scum is scum no matter what party they're from.

Did you listen to Bill Manders tonight? I heard he was trashing me and I heard a little of it over the phone when Manders and Parsons were making fun of me and saying I was hurting Samuelian's cause. I'm busy helping my husband with a project but I was wondering if you heard it. Gotta go. Manders loves to read people's emails over the air which is fine by me except that he then proceeds to interpret what you said using his own self serving filters. I think I'll stop listening to KMJ altogether. Ever since they canceled the Savage Nation I have been disenfranchized. I'm switching to AM 1430 where they carry Savage live and then I'll listen to country music. Yahoo! For victory & freedom!!!

We believe Condit had something to do with the death of Chandra Levy. Steve Samuelian drove down a street in Fresno, stopped at a gas station to ask for directions and then drove home. How dare you equate the two. Condit is more like OJ Simpson, pal. I wish people would stop obsessing over what they think Steve might have been thinking. Dangerous territory but you've already made up your mind. There is no use wasting my time. Good night. For victory & freedom!!!

ANOTHER MAJOR ENDORSEMENT FOR SAMUELIAN

National Rifle Association Latest to Join Long List of Samuelian Supporters

(Sacramento, CA) - The National Rifle Association (NRA) today
announced its endorsement of Assemblyman Steve Samuelian in his re-election
campaign. The NRA endorsement is crucial to success in Republican primary
elections all across California, and this major boost to the Samuelian
campaign is further evidence that Samuelian is dominating the 29th Assembly
District contest. Despite numerous attempts by Samuelian's challenger
opponents to gain the NRA's support, the organization chose to strongly
support Samuelian.

"Assemblyman Steve Samuelian has helped lead the fight in the State
Assembly for the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners, hunters and
sportsmen. We are proud to endorse Steve's re-election and will be very
involved in his campaign," said Ed Worley, California Liaison for the
National Rifle Association.

Samuelian strategist Chris Wysocki said, "This level of early
support from so many major groups shows extremely formidable force. Steve
Samuelian has endorsements rolling in every day from Republican leaders to
important organizations like the NRA. Today's endorsement carries with it
thousands of votes in the overwhelmingly conservative 29th Assembly
District." Wysocki continued, "Running in a Republican Primary without the
support of the NRA in this district is a tremendously difficult position to
be in. Because Samuelian has the whole hearted support of the NRA, it will
be very tough for anyone to challenge Steve's candidacy."

The NRA endorsement adds to a long list of recent endorsements for
Samuelian, including Assembly Republican Leader Dave Cox, Assembly
Republican Caucus Chairman Tony Strickland, Assemblyman Ray Haynes, the
Fresno Republican Assembly, the National Tax Limitation Committee PAC,
Republican National Committeewoman Barbara Alby, and many others.

Steve Samuelian was first elected in 2002, where he defeated his
Primary opponent by over 13 points and rode to a landslide victory in the
General Election. For more information, please visit
