I heard earlier on the Larry Elder show that Ass-ner blames President Reagan for the cancellation of his show, "Lou." Here are a couple tidbits I found on the web ---

November 9th, 1981
The Screen Actor's Guild, under president Ed Asner, votes money for unemployed PATCO air traffic controllers fired by (former SAG honcho) U.S. president Ronald Reagan.

1982
Politically conservative Hollywood actors led by Charlton Heston break with the Screen Actor's Guild and form a rival group called AWAG (American Working Actor's Guild). They were angered by SAG president Ed Asner's taking their union into politics by condemning Ronald Reagan's policies in Central America, capped by the SAG board refusing Reagan (their former president) the Guild lifetime achievement award. Asner's hit TV show "Lou Grant" lost sponsors and was cancelled.

I am so glad Voight spoke out.

Now go out and rent "Anaconda" twice to show support for Jon Voight. It is great to see an actor make a stand when it would be so easy to go along with the Hoollyweird crowd and not be noticed.

I only saw a brief bit of Assinine and will wait for fellow Freepers to comment. Believe I heard the word despicable applied to our President. Was so furious, turned off tv and came up here to check in. I was thrilled when I saw you already had it posted Doug.

Unfortunately, I shall never be able to watch Deliverance again. When I watched it (in an English seminar class concentrating on James Dickey), I passed out - the only time in my life that I have actually fainted.

Yes, it was during the "squeal like a pig" scene.

My classmates carried me outside, set me next to the fountain and splashed water on me until I came to.

I walked back into the classroom just in time to see Burt Reynolds' compound fracture.
