Democrats shouldn't get in the way of Bush receiving the credit — and the blame — for the war he is so eager to wage with Iraq.

He sure has waited a long time to be wanting a war with Iraq. Anyway, if he thinks the dems can conveniently ignore the issue of terrorism, then he's really not going to like what's going to happen to them in '04.

The body bags and the price tag will all be the president's cross to bear.

With any luck, he means. If you thought the Wellstone funeral was appalling, wait till you see the left wing cheering if the war goes badly. These people are S-C-U-M.

Yeah right, DeWayne. Can't wait for some bad sh*t to go down, can you. Then, ferrel scumbags like you will rub your hands together and say, "See...we knew like...uh...that particular thing was going to happen."

He says that the democrats should be quiet about a war he thinks will end badly, in order to get political gain.

I do not subscribe to this view of the outcome of the war. However, if one thought that the effort was doomed, keeping quiet in order to claim political points is simply gaiing power by the deaths of American military.

You are right...he is scum.

I agree. It's time for Democrats to take a principled stand. And what principle is that? That they should be in power.

Never mind taking a position on the great issues of the day. What is governance, indeed what is statesmanship, except factoring short-term domestic political considerations into everything we say or do? How do Democrats feel about this war? It doesn't matter. That's right, fellow Democrats, never mind your principles. Never mind your beliefs. Think about the next election; tell people what they want to hear. Remember what our Great Leader, the Clinton, told us. What do we stand for? Nothing. What do we advocate? Nothing. How do we win? Criticize!

Oh, happy days are here again, the skies above are blue again...

Democrats should harp on this bad economic news.

Yes, please do, because that was sooo effective in the last election. The Republicans will be at 55 Senators in 2004.

If they truly believe that the President is making a colossal mistake that will result in many U.S. body bags and certain defeat for the USA, why would anyone cynically back down and shut up?

They already have betrayed us in the building of an effective and timely coalition. Can't duck now.

He's positively salivating at the idea of the war going badly for us so that he can point a finger at Bush.

As distasteful as this creep's article is, it does make a valid point:

All the democrat buds in the media offer advice, suggestions, input, whatever, in their all out effort to get the liberal voice out into the mainstream (mainly because Mr. and Mrs. Clinton desire it to be so), as if it's never been done before.

It is truly astounding that the democrat party politicians havn't any recourse but to "reinvent" themselves over and over again. Sad really. It is as if they are Michael Jackson suffering from the heartbreak of too many cosmetic surgeries gone wrong.

It's the Moral Authority, stupid!

Except that Bush is not destroying himself. And no matter how you slice it, hoping -- no, salivating -- for American casualties for political gain is reprehensible.

Winning reelection isn't everything. Blair and Bush understand that. Both I strongly suspect are at peace with themselves. They will do what they think is right and hope for the best. If their judgment results in their elecoral defeat, due to the result in Iraq or ancilliary economic fallout, so be it. Let history be the judge. On the big decisions, politics simply has to take second fiddle.

I agree 100%. I was only speaking from the author's point of view.

I wish I hadn't. Now I need a shower.

"Unemployment has increased nearly 50% since Bush took office.
The $236 billion surplus he inherited from the Clinton administration has turned into a $304 billion deficit on his watch.
Personal bankruptcies reached an all-time high last year.
Democrats should harp on this bad economic news."

Americans understand that this economy is a direct result of 9/11/01.
