Unless the sun bursts through the clouds today and remains bright and visible the rest of winter, Pittsburgh will easily surpass the average winter's "gloomy day factor."

From Oct. 1 through Sunday, we had 96 days of mostly cloudy to fully cloudy skies -- about two days shy of the 30-year-average expected through the end of February. National Weather Service forecasters in Moon say they don't track record cloudiness, but this year is definitely on track to be more dismal than usual.

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside I've got the month of May.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl).

I've got so much honey the bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl).

Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooooh.

I don't need no money, fortune, or fame.
I've got all the riches baby one man can claim.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl).

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
with my girl.
I've even got the month of May
with my girl (fade)

I'm sorry to say this, but Western PA is one of the most depressing areas of the country. What used to be "hell with its lid off" has now become a case study in rust and unemployment.

Shoveling snow is a good way to cheer up?

I disagree -- Pittsburgh is actually pretty great in a lot of ways. I agree with you about Johnstown, though:-)
