I have often thought recently of how our parents/grandparents felt in the 40's & 50's when the nuclear threat first became reality and how they managed to live through that time as well...I am SO glad that we have THIS administration in charge at this time! There will always be threats to our way of life, but Americans stand tall and don't hide when faced with danger! That's the AMERICAN way and I'm proud of it (I'll keep telling myself that next month when we are staying 1 block from the White House and flying back through NYC!)

Your Majesty, I grew up in those years, and I remember all too well the terror we all experienced. I was in the hospital recovering from surgery during the Cuban missile crisis. It was no small thing, and, I have a terrible feeling, neither is this.

HI Princess
I have been around since the mid 30s so I remember when the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan.

It was such a well kept military secret the adults at that time couldn't comprehend what had happened. They kept looking at newspaper photos without any idea of atomic power.

It had to be explained to the public in terms of the equivalent thousands of tons of TNT that it would take to cause that much damage.

Since we had been attacked at Pearl Harbor the Japs didn't get much sympathy from Americans at that time.

But like all things where a threat is removed, atitudes change. Especially by people after the fact who want to berate this country. - tom
