Yes, of course, more taxes during an economic slowdown is totally rational thinking.....to a government drone. To a liberal, a slowdown means that government need to raise taxes to make up for shortfalls and provide more support for those suffering from economic conditions. During an economic boom, taxes should be raised because people can afford to pay more taxes and it's a good time for "new government investments."
To a conservative, economic booms and slowdowns are both great times to cut taxes.
